The Man

Known the world round as The King of 7s™, Waisale Serevi hardly needs introduction! His blend of power, speed and spatial awareness lifted him from humble roots to the fore of Fijian rugby over a career that spanned two decades.
After discovering his passion for the game in 1977 at age ten, Serevi rose quickly through the youth ranks and played his first international for Fiji in 1988. From there, the rise to the top was swift. Serevi-led teams captured three straight Melrose Cups at the Hong Kong Sevens from 1990-1992. Serevi went on to lead Fiji to two Rugby Sevens World Cup Championships in 1997 and 2005.
Serevi was one of the few players to play both fifteens and sevens formats, the former taking him to play for clubs in England, France and Japan. While he played both formats, sevens rugby fanned his passion for the sport. Sevens play was also his gift -- one that he shared with the world until retiring from international play in 2009.
Along with his family and his strong faith, rugby continues to anchor Serevi's world. In co-founding Serevi Rugby, he has turned his attention to giving back to the game that has given him so much. His role is equal parts rugby ambassador, coach, and community builder. Though he can frequently be found in the office these days, his favorite spot remains the pitch, where he consults with top-tier collegiate programs, coaches Old Puget Sound Beach and takes center stage at most Serevi Rugby youth and coaching camps.
