Coaches

Serevi™ has a wealth of experienced coaching resources to employ across the youth to elite spectrum. The coaches listed below are employed by Serevi™. In addition, we have a substantial pool of American, Australian, South African and Fijian coaches who we draw from on an as-needed basis, all of whom have passed background checks and whose skills with kids have been verified. In our humble opinion, this is a first-rate coaching staff!

EVAN HAIGH

Evan is Director of Coaching here at Serevi™, building on over 10 years of experience as a rugby player/coach and in sports marketing. He is currently Head Coach of the Old Puget Sound Beach Rugby Club, a team for which he also plays. He held a similar player/coach role at Darlington Rugby Club in England, where he was the league's leading point scorer and MVP. Prior to that, Evan played professionally for both Old Mission Beach Athletic Rugby Club and for Currie Rugby Club in Scotland. He's got a Bachelors of Sports Administration from University of Canberra. Evan brings that wide swath of experience to bear on his coaching, where kids take to him for his mix of rugby theory and practice and for his organization.

JOSH YOUNG

Josh heads Youth Programming at Serevi™. In this role, Josh plans, staffs, fills and executes all of our youth programming. He also recruits and trains partners across the country to run camps for new coaches and players according to the Serevi System he helped develop. When he's not wearing his Serevi™ hat, Josh also volunteers as Head Coach of the u19/u16/u14 teams and Director of Rugby at the Eastside Lions Youth Rugby Club. Josh played collegiate rugby at Washington State University and club rugby after that. Always looking to extend rugby's reach, Josh previously served as the Chair Person of the Youth Rugby Committee for Rugby Washington. As a former 5th grade teacher and Boeing trainer, Josh is comfortable working with audiences of all ages. His relaxed style puts kids at ease.

MATT HAWKINS

Matt is our Director of California, broadly responsible for the build-out of the California marketplace. Born in South Africa, Matt has played rugby virtually his entire life. His rugby resume is golden and very much still a work-in-process. A flanker, Matt is now the most capped sevens player in USA Eagles’ history. Based near the Olympic training facility in San Diego, Matt heads a team running programming for the California market and beyond. Matt is also on our leadership team with shared strategic responsibilities. Matt also coaches the San Diego State Aztecs.

MATT TROUVILLE

Matt wear two important hats:  one as a key member of our program development team in the office and one as an on-the-field coach. Matt’s sense of humor, charm, teaching background and rugby experience all stand him in good faith with children, who call him Aussie Matt. A native of Sydney, Matt played for the Southern District Rugby Club before returning there briefly to coach. He completed his education degree at the Australian College of Physical Education.

NU'U PUNIMATA

An American Samoan, Nuu has played for the USA 7's squad. When not committed to the national team, he plays both 7's and Super League (flanker/loose forward) for Old Puget Sound Beach, where he won a 7's crown in 2010. Prior to his stint at Beach, Nuu played for the Fort Lewis 7's squad from 2003 to 2007. As a coach, he's got a quiet disposition and commands respect and attention with his focus on power and presence.

PATE TUILEVUKA

Pate has played 10 caps for the U.S. Eagles since 2006. He played college rugby at BYU, where he was named All American. Born in Suva Province, Fiji, Pate once played basketball for the Fijian national team before deciding to devote himself full-time to rugby. Pate now plays flyhalf for Old Puget Sound Beach and works full-time at Serevi™, where he has a lead role in social media and web development. Pate is absolutely magic with children and is able to break down complex rugby elements in a way that is easy to understand.

MILES CRAIGWELL

Miles coaches when he's not off representing the U.S. as a member of the Eagles' sevens squad. A native of Boston and a graduate of Brown University, Miles was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2009. When that didn't pan out, Miles proactively sought out U.S. Sevens coach Al Caravelli and took up rugby. His natural athleticism served him well, as did many of the crossover skills. Very quickly, Miles joined the national team, where he has played well. We're thrilled to have Miles on board. He's polished, cosmopolitan and fit!
